amBIENT XC from amBX UK Ltd has been selected to feature the latest in home theatre technology inside the Dream Home at the 2010 Pittsburgh Home & Garden Show, the region’s top source for the latest in luxury home improvements. The show runs March 5-14 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Over 350,000 visitors will see the amBIENT XC in action as they tour the amazing interior of this spectacular $2 million contemporary residence, featuring the most innovative and forward thinking design products available. CJ Interior Design Studio was selected to design the Dream Home, which will feature a total of six rooms, all showcasing the latest in cutting-edge design and technology. Visitors will be introduced to a live ”family” living in the Dream Home, enjoying and demonstrating its many amenities. This is the first year this concept and layout has ever been used.

amBIENT XC makes TV debut in Welsh Talent Show

amBIENT XC at Cân i Gymru (Song For Wales)

amBX UK Ltd. today announced that its professional LED lighting control system, amBIENT XC, is being used to control the dynamic light effects in the Welsh TV special Cân i Gymru (Song For Wales).

Cân i Gymru is the Welsh language equivalent of the Eurovision Song Contest, an annual event featuring professional artistes singing new original songs, with a public telephone vote determining the winner.

This year, amBIENT XC’s unique dynamic lighting system will be used to control and coordinate the different lights and fixtures used on the Cân i Gymru set. The studio has 20 Martin LC panels and six large projectors, while the centre of the stage is lit underneath with 16 Chromaflood 200 and edged with 30 Chromastrips and 20 Pixeline 1044s.

amBIENT XC’s video-to-light capabilities will be used to ensure that the fixtures on-stage match the LC panels throughout the show, which is broadcast live on Sunday February 28 on S4C, Channel 4 Wales.

Consisting of two Light Pods which sit on either side of the player’s monitor and plug into any USB port, the Cyborg Gaming Lights envelop the user in up to 16 million colours, producing immersive lighting for a fully atmospheric gaming environment. Benefiting from dynamic lighting effects which react authentically to on-screen game play, the ingenious multi-hinge design allows for flexible positioning of the Gaming Lights in order to fully maximize the immersive spread of color. In addition, the Gaming Lights have been designed to facilitate multiple lights to be plugged in simultaneously, allowing the user to appreciate the full sensory surround capabilities of the amBX technology.

The amBX enabled Cyborg keyboard is an interactive backlit keyboard, capable of producing real time lighting effects through the integration of amBX technology. Featuring laser-etched keys and full RGB back lighting capable of displaying up to 16 million colours which react dynamically to on screen game play. The keyboard will allow publishers and developers the chance to test their amBX enabled games on actual hardware.

amBX and Immersion join forces to create an SDK standard

Game developers will benefit from a ‘one-stop’ solution to immersive effects

amBX UK Ltd today announced an agreement with Immersion to standardise the creation of immersive effects across a range of platforms. Game developers and publishers will be able to add full immersive effects to their games using a single software development kit.

This ‘one stop’ solution and standardised tool-set will combine Immersion haptic technology and amBX immersive effects controls, providing a complete solution for games developers to add force feedback, touch sense, rumble, lighting effects and even wind effects to games and deliver a true immersive gaming experience.

amBX UK Ltd. today announced that it is sponsoring this year’s Dare To Be Digital competition, which showcases the talents of the most promising emerging development teams from around the world.

Organised and promoted by Abertay University and powered by Intel, Dare To Be Digital will take its public showcase event Dare ProtoPlay to Edinburgh Fringe Festival on 14-16 August and will give 14 teams the chance to unveil their games, selected for their innovative design, new approach to interfaces, or genre-busting qualities, at EICC (Edinburgh International Conference Centre). Visitors to Dare ProtoPlay will be able to try out the prototype games, one of which will be voted best in show. The final winners will form a nomination for the BAFTA Ones To Watch Award.

"Having amBX on board as a sponsor for Dare to be Digital and exhibiting at Dare ProtoPlay will make a real difference to the entertainment experience offered by the games in the contest," says Elaine Russell of University Of Abertay which organises the event. "Visitors will find playing the games an intense experience with the integration of amBX effects."
