I gotta say, amBX is quite amazing, and I love the lighting it gives off. But I wish more games used the wrist rumbler! It got me thinking, would it be incredibly difficult to make an exe mod like aurora synthesia, except for the wrist rumbler? Every time your mic or stereo mix channel gets loud, the rumbler rumbles. If you had a sensitivity slider, you could tune it to work for almost any game.

I have no idea how mods for this hardware is made, but if I didn't see any other posts about it, so I thought I would throw the idea out there.

With the SDK available it is relatively easy to control amBX as my tool shows, however audio processing is a tad more complicated.

Aurora Synesthesia could be easily adjusted to introduce support for fans and rumble based on audio levels (or sudden screen changes) but as I only have a starter kit there is no way for me to accurately test the effect unless a large number of people are willing to test on my behalf. In whice case I would be interested in adding this feature.

Hi Raggles,

It may be worth adding a Poll to this topic, as this is a rather good idea and something I'm sure a lot of people will like to have.

I would be willing to test this myself. If it's something you can see getting into, toss me a PM and I will give you my email adress.

I thought of letting the rumbler rumble when bass levels are high. Personally, I'd just turn the knob on the woofer with the kit to the max (I'm actually feeling the vibrations meters away, LOL!)
But my parents have forced me into buying a headset, and that's not that shocking.

That is a great idea, I have not yet invested in fans/rumbler (the gamesupport is simply too low) but with something like this would make me consider buying them. Having it based on base-level is the way to go

Hmm, explosions and shocks and everything I wish would produce vibrations in games sure make sounds... So this could be a great alternative to full amBX support.

Zodius, if you're interested in the project, you should definitely ask the amBX team to kindly send you a fans & rumble pad kit. They know what you're capable of, so it's not like giving stuff away to just anybody. And we can surely back you up from here :)

The wrist rumbler makes an annoying sound, so I don't see why you want that during your music? And the only way of making it useful in games is through the special amBX profiles, created by the game developers, as it already works in some shooters.

Any limb resting on the pad and/or using headphones really kills the rumble noise...

So, any progress or the topic is dead?
It would be realy great if the rumble pad would be sound sensitive, especialy because no new profiles are made for new games. I play BFBC 2 and use only lights. Why not use the ambx peripherals instead of buying something like "buttkiker"?

Buttkicker works on a higher frequency, the wristrumbler would be too slow/loud for soundsensitivity. But why not just using Forcefeedback vibration effects from games?
