you might find this program does what you want

It's similar to AS but doesn't do sound - it does work with Aero on though

Thanks for that. Exactly what I was looking for. Only thing is it bogs down performance a hell of a lot. Hopefully some optimizations can fix that up.

Stupid question but is Aurora Synesthesia only to get ambx to react on music or also screen content? Because I find this mentioned several times with web videos, Blue Rays etc.

Two parts, the first reacts on sound, the other on the screen.
Take a look at the Wiki for all those questions you didn't dare ask.

It has already been stickied ages ago in the "Music" section. You can also subscribe to the topic if you want to make extra sure it doesn't get lost. :)

Sorry to bump an old topic but....

I just purchased two sets of Cyborg lights and would like to try this software for Spotify.

Every link I've tried gives me a corrupted Zip file, tried using 7zip and Windows. Does anyone have another link or mirror?

Go to the site at the bottom of this post
Go to the links page
There is a link to the download under the amBX heading

That download should be OK (post if it isn't)

Hi Rogmi,

First off, I like the forum and resources, however I would hope Philips or Mad Katz, or whomever is still funding amBX technology to consider overhauling their support for their customers, and or investing in a tool like Aurora Synesthesia. I had several issues on running the amBX software, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the LED will shut off by itself, etc. The effect and the technology is so cool, I am willing to try to make it work, because I do see a benefit with it, and I am willing to invest my money into it. But they really need to push, as everything that is support related seems to be very outdated, and this kills customer confidence. Anyhow I came in the board, to hopefully get everything working.

So far I use Windows Media Player with the amBX visualization and that's the only way I can get the effects to work. Gaming wise, I tried Jericho, but did not work, my copy is steam powered, so I don't know if that is why.

Anyhow Aurora Synesthesia, seems like the solution for what I want. The reason I mostly bought amBX by Mad Katz, was to play games and listen to music / watch youtube videos. A software solution that works with any sound being outputted is ideal.

Anyhow I tried downloading Aurora Synesthesia, and none of the links work, not the OP's 1.06 link nor your 1.05 link in your site rogmi. I haven't been able to download this software from anywhere, its always corrupted. Also I don't understand if this is a solution, why doesn't mad kats or philips or whomever build off aurora or similar solution and fix out problems? I'd wager most people have the same reasoning and needs as me. Games, Music, Youtube. So why isn't there a solution to this? And if there is, I am not aware. I tried also amBX glOW, and that would not work. I am really hoping for a solution, I was going to order 2 more kits, but I am hesitant, since I can't get things to work properly.

thank you.

There are / have been problems with some of the links in the past and also with the downloaded zip file being corrupt. Because of this, one of the mods hosted the file and this is where the link on my site goes to. I've just tried the link and the zipped file downloads and I'm able to gownload and unzip the file OK (I haven’t installed it as I haven’t got amBX installed on this PC yet.

Are you having problems downloading the file or is the actual zip file that is corrupt? If you want me to snd you the unzipped contents (four small files) then PM me with your e-mail address.

Like many people, I generally prefer AS to the original amBX display. However, I normally only use the amBX (Philips and Madcatz) for ambient lighting and not for games, so I don’t know what is best for gaming.

I’ve used Philips and Madcatz lights without any problems, other that sometimes the Philips have crashed the PC on XP. This stopped when I upgraded the PC to Windows 7. I may have been lucky, but I’ve not had the problems with the Madcatz lights that some people have had. They installed and worked fine on Win7, both 32 bit and 64 bit. I think that there are sometimes compatibility issues with other software that may be installed, especially on Win7 64 bit, if other posts are anything to go by.

Well I got 1.06 to finally download from Rogmi's linked site.

Not the best, but at least works, and wasn't a complete waste. I wish we had updated software etc though. It's a shame. Such a cool concept, etc. Hopefully amBX will pull through eventually.

I have a new problem, so I bought a set for my work pc, but it doesn't detect the lights. I plug it in via USB, it shows up as amBX Light pod, etc, correctly then installs as a USB Input device. So I know the computer is detecting it, but when I try to install the Mad Katz drivers, it won't detect the drivers, says they aren't plugged in. I tried 1.10, 2.0 etc, to see if that would help it did not, the software installs fine, but its missing the drivers itself for the units, I also tried adding legacy hardware but no luck.

Do the INF's exist, is there a manual way to resolve this? Or is it just not compatible with my work computer?

Ps. Aurora installed fine. And looks like it lights up etc. The lights are the ones that aren't detecting. This is my second pair, as the original didn't even light up!

Thanks!

Unfortunately it doesn't work with windows 8.

EDIT: I take that back, had some problems with my sound card. It does start up very slowly and gives a memory error though. Not a big problem.

How did you get it to work? I got it to install, but it is very slow and only does a refresh on the screen every 30 seconds or so.

I did got stereo mix to work, but how to I get Aurora Synesthesia working with it?

Update: Synethesia mode seems to work without a problem in Windows 8 pro.

However, in Aurora mode:
- Illuminate works, but I just get slowly changing colors
- Average & Vibrant -> I get a warning about disabling aero.

When I choose yes/this time, AS freezes and responds really really slow
When I choose no, Aurora mode disables...
