The combustd library and applications are being transitioned to C++, the ruby-usb bindings have proven not to be very usable due to them being unfinished. This also allows us to create binaries, which means you guys will get a few applications you can run instead of some running from source code after installing dependencies.
This does however mean a small delay in plans, but you can follow progress on the aforementioned url. For the ruby applications, which are workable, you can checkout the /branches/combustd-ruby-0.1 post. Note that the hosted wiki on googlecode does provide all instructions you will need to run the current combustd sample applications with boblight on linux, and the testcode on mac.
