Windows Media Player/Center x64
iTunes 64
VLC 64?
Any answers would be appreciated. thanks.

I'll answer what I can:

The kit will play visualisations with 64-bit WMP with music but the kit doesnt respond with video.
The kit doens't respond with any video source (TV/DVD/Video) in 64-bit WMC.
iTunes is not a proper 64-bit application (I know it says it is but have a look at process explorer next time you run it and see its running in 32-bit) and so the kit responds fine in it.
VLC is only a 32-bit application so the kit works fine with it.

I have a kit installed on my gaming rig running Win7 x64 which responds fine in all games I've run (as I don't own any 64-bit games), and a kit installed on my dedicated Media Centre running Win7 x64 which has been sitting useless for the last 3 months due to not working in 64-bit WMC (and no end in sight for when drivers will be released to make it function again for the purpose I bought it for).

So all-in-all it depends what you intend to run the kit with - at the moment its a case of Caveat Emptor!

Hope that helps.

Hey guys, i'm kinda out of ideas.
One week ago i purchased a starter kit and installed it successfully on my Windows 7 64bit (with the installation guide on the wiki). It worked fine, even with VLC, Winamp Visuals, MPC, WMP etc etc.
2 days ago i purchased two more, plugged them in, arranged them in the settings. Worked well for two hours (really awesome with two or more kits), then i quit the movie, replugget the USB Ports and when i tried to plug them in again, the chaos happened. They're no more recognized properly. Yellow symbol before every Kit in the device manager. (Device couldn't be started - Code 10). Even forcing the devices with the proper drivers again wouldnt help.

I also deinstalled every software, rebootet, deleted the AMBX Folder, rebooted und used the installation guide again would'nt help, i always get a unknown device and nothing helps. I didnt install something else, either software, nor hardware. Would be very pleased if someone could help me fix the problem, i'm really out of ideas... and out of coffee, cigarettes and aspirin too

Update:
Erm, works fine now. Turning the devices on/off didn't help, but replugging them from the power did... dont know why, but all 3 are working now :)

Nah, not really. Spent 5 hours with reinstalling the drivers. But i just uploaded a demo of my testsetting (i'll let the cables disappear, rearrange the devices etc etc the next days):
So thats how it looks like when you use the AMBX for ambient :)

Hi Nahkampfschlaf,

I bought such a starter kit too (from Toys’R'Us, I think you too? Tip from myDealZ from 03.08.?).

The driver inst. with Win7 x64 works as described in the instructions.
I've also testet the alternative method, described from ThaSchaap here:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3156&start=100

VLC works well.

But I use XBMC (latest SVN) as Mediacenter and that has worked only once, I think before first reboot.
Since then it is no longer found!

I'm sure already installed everything 10 times, but that has no purpose.

Can you perhaps test maybe once xbmc?
It can be found here:
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/win32/

I also testet newer versions of control center and GamingFXGen I found in the most recent comments at myDealZ thread (amBX_GamingFXGen_Setup_3.6.0_beta.exe and amBX_ControlPanel_Setup_1.2.3.exe).

Bot nothing changed, xbmc is not detected anymore.

It's frustrating cause it worked after first install.

A special thing for me is that I can not install the Microsoft C++ x64 redistributable versions 2005 and 2008 that are required during installation of amBX_GamingFXGen.
The installation always fails.
The x32 versions work.

After i installed latest versions C++ 2010 x64 and x32 the installation of amBX_GamingFXGen although will still install and load it down, but the installation is no longer applied.
I suspect, because newer versions are already installed.

Thankz,
Siutsch.

Have you tried editing the 'Data Execution Prevention' to allow Illuminate and the other AmBX programs?

I was having problems with it recognising things etc before I did that; it's been fine since then.

Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
On the Data Execution Prevention tab, use one of the following procedures:
Click Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only to select the OptIn policy.
Click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select to select the OptOut policy, and then click Add to add the programs that you do not want to use the DEP feature.
Click OK two times.

So for AmBX you turn it on for all except the programs you select, then you just go through and add the .exe's of the various AmBX programs.

Hope that helps!
:)

Hi,

If you're having problems with a Philips Kit please follow our Wiki guide for setting up for Windows 7 here:

If you can't open Device Manager, then you either don't have Admin access or there is something fundamentally wrong with your install of Windows.

I dont think the hardware folder shows up unless you download the phillips ambx software. I just reinstalled windows 7 and was going to give it another try. Didn't work on my last install but I think it was due to crap in the OS. Wiki is out of date too. This forum is also dead.
