For this you will need Media Player Classic (Homecinema), which can be downloaded here.

  1. Find the 'decoder:' section.
  2. Select a mirror behind 'mpc (home cinema)' to download the software.
  3. Open the archive file and copy the 'mplayerc.exe' file to wherever you like. If you want all supported languages (the default is English) extract all files.

Why Media Player Classic (Homecinema)? It decodes practically any video without any codec(pack)s installed. If you have a recent videocard it will accelerate (H.264) decoding through DXVA

Update: If you are having trouble with the settings below, install Haali Media Splitter and try this alternative: File:Haali.png
