We enable smart buildings with our sophisticated control software and create interoperable solutions that connect building services.

Historically we have developed solutions that control smart lighting in commercial buildings.

Lighting is still at the forefront of our product offering, however, our solution is very flexible and nimble so it can be applied to wider smart building solutions. We can connect various systems and devices within buildings, collecting and aggregating data and creating custom dashboards, allowing data to be utilised in real-time either in the building or via the cloud.

Our innovations have enabled intelligent lighting software with true human-centric capabilities to be applied to a wide number of industry sectors since 2008.

From our beginnings as a small unit inside Philips R&D division, we have evolved and developed our unique technology as a wholly independent business. We have enjoyed working with brilliant people on the way. From a start in video games and consumer electronics, we have provided innovative solutions for lighting to the audio-visual, hospitality, outdoor advertising and commercial property sectors.

Our software has found its way into a wide range of places -some of Europe’s largest concert venues, digital displays on roundabouts, one of the most energy-efficient office buildings in the world and sensory rooms for autistic children. Once they get to know us, our partners have challenged us many times to deliver ground-breaking capabilities for innovative solutions.

These experiences have all contributed to the direction of our development, with the video games experience showing us the need for real-time dynamic systems and the work with a special educational needs partner adding to our knowledge of the crucial role of colour control in lighting.

We have successfully taken that a lot further with our circadian-supportive systems for elderly and dementia care environments. Now we are focused on improving the smart lighting and building industry with open, interoperable solutions, encouraging partnerships and collaborations to provide key users with the very best smart, sustainable solutions for both new and old buildings. The aim is to drive positive change globally.

We only do software, no hardware, and all of our software is our own and developed in-house in the UK. This approach has many advantages ranging from high quality to true open interoperability and a responsive and flexible platform. We believe that the control of every lighting experience should be high-quality and must be combined with dynamic performance in any 3-dimensional space to meet today’s and tomorrow’s lighting control requirements. When that capability is accessible to other building automation and management systems and can work with the widest possible range of lighting and sensor devices, then it can be considered truly “smart”.

Dynamic and responsive lighting experiences need smart algorithms to work effectively, and that demands a sophisticated software platform. It’s a good job that we also believe in putting this capability into non-technical users' hands in the most intuitive ways possible and that we have developed straightforward user interfaces and enable our partners to develop their own.

We work with partners of all types who use our software products to deliver high-performance lighting and building control with real-time data aggregation, enduring the most efficient and perfect lighting experience in any space. With millions of square feet of buildings and over 200 installations in 16 countries, our approach and our products are well proven. Light-Scene Engine – The forerunner of SmartCore, Light-Scene Engine is an efficient and powerful colour LED control system with some unique capabilities. It enables light to react in real-time to sound, video, or even presentations to easily create dramatic and immersive effects without programming and in real-time. Used by many businesses for hospitality venues, cinemas and outdoor digital displays, Light Scene Engine has proven to be a successful solution to manage lighting in ways that were not previously possible.
