And yet another update:
StarCraft II BETA works with light presets. Found "Real Time Strategy" to be the best setting - maybe because it actually is an RTS game.

There is a slight backdraw though: Each time time the game gets updated, the newer version .exe gets recognized by AMBX control panel and you have to reenable it to keep lights running.

Indi game Aquaria also works nicely with amBX lights, I found either the "RTS" or "default" profile fitting for this fine piece of game.

i have just got this list from the ambx wiki. Which is probably more upto date now anyways.
I dont play arma II so have no idea in how to make it full if it isnt. The list may very well be wrong.

Is there any chance to get iracing work again with ambx ? since last year iracing dont start anymore with the ambxfxgen.exe in the background, because it is recognized as a possible cheat software. my mail to iracing was unrecognized.

thats very bad for me because the light effects in iracing were very cool.

Hi,

Contacted iracing, got a reply from them that they will forward my question/problem to their Engineers.

I will let you know when i got another reply.

Edit:

Got another reply from the engineer:

We don’t plan to add exceptions for amBX anytime soon, mainly because it’s too time consuming and there are a lots and lots of other programs with similar issues). So for now the policy is only softTH, IZ3D, and warpailizer (which are all much more needed as fundamental display drivers) are allowed to proxy/hook d3d9.dll.

So i don't think amBX will work soon in that game

I know SoftTH and IZ3D, but Warpalizer was new to me. And although I'd prefer support, I understand they have to choose. amBX needs some new marketpenetration first.
Take a look at the Wiki for all those questions you didn't dare ask.

Ive subscribed to iracing and mine wont start either whilst amBX is running in the background. So now Ive just had to stop using amBX for good. I really liked the lights on, and now Ive bought 3 x Dell U2711 monitors, I was going to buy more kits to light up behind them all, however I cant be bothered to have to stop system processes whenever I want to play a game. Its just a bit amatuer and not what I expect from my hardware. If they are going to be incompatible, Id rather not have them wasting space on my desk. I will be putting my set up for sale and let some other sucker enjoy all the hassle that goes along with owning amBX. Such potential wasted by a lack of support, shame.

Ya know you could easily setup a simple batch file to kill the amBX process and launch the games exe, would only take a minute or two and then launching the game would shut down the amBX software.

I don't know the exact file names or locations on your system, but something as simple as this should do it.

Code: Select all
Taskkill /IM AmbxFxGen.exe
timeout 1
cd c:\program files\iracing\
start launcher.exe

If you wanted to get complicated with it you could possibly use a "call" command to launch the game, and have it set to re launch the amBX lights when you close the game.
