ESG Technology - How Does Lighting Data Improve ESG Scores and Performance?

Investors want to support companies with strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) scores as they are viewed as low-risk and more equipped to take advantage of opportunities.

In the UK, new compliance will state that many buildings have to present an ESG performance score in the not-so-distant future.

The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority has made it mandatory for premium listed companies to disclose their ESG performance score in alignment with TCFD for the fiscal year 2021.

ESG scores review aspects such as energy, Co2, water, wellbeing, and reporting. However, many large corporate businesses are yet to implement an ESG strategy /ESG initiatives and have no way of being able to collect all this data into one single source where an ESG score can be generated.

Customers are turning to their BMS providers or IoT software solutions to ask for ESG solutions to assist in their ESG initiatives.

They know data is being collected throughout their building but need to figure out a way to capture the relevant data, pull it into a platform and create an accurate picture of the building’s current ESG metrics for their ESG reporting.

Whilst some MSIs and building management software platforms are starting to offer ESG reports as a service; they struggle to access ESG data from the lighting system; therefore lacking a full holistic picture.

Flexible, intuitive, digital twin architecture

Physical spaces can be replicated in the virtual world. Lighting energy usage data can be simulated and role-played to gain an understanding of the best energy strategy for your smart building before applying it to the physical asset.

Our digital twin architecture can deliver current usage values, energy, efficiency, and carbon emissions for lighting to support a detailed ESG report.

This can be used by software platforms and combined with data they have also collected to create an accurate report.

Easy integration for ESG Ratings

  • Full suite of APIs, including a BACnet interface for easy integration with 3rd party systems.

  • Protocol-agnostic solution.

  • An IP-based solution that can also be accessed and controlled via the cloud.

  • Full access to data collected from lights, sensors and devices.

Drive better ESG performance in your smart building

Lighting is the second-biggest consumer of energy in a building, accounting for approximately 40% of total usage.

It is important that the building’s lighting data is included for an accurate ESG score to be generated.

Many major platforms struggle to integrate lighting data into their ESG responsibility report; amBXs emerging technologies can enable this and become a small part of a wider solution for improved ESG risks, ratings and rankings insight.

Monitoring and reporting

As a result, the client will have ESG data that details how their current buildings are running, as well as prediction simulations of what improvements each of their buildings can achieve for future target reporting across their entire portfolio. All this can potentially be achieved without any hardware being deployed in any of their buildings.
